A Simple Skincare Routine That Actually Works

Expert Guidance from a Skin Clinic in Dum Dum

Over the last few years, I have met patients with many different skin concerns.

Acne.
Pigmentation.
Dryness.
Premature ageing.
Sudden sensitivity.
And skin that simply looks tired.

Yet, most patients begin their consultation with the same question:

“Doctor, which product should I use?”

My answer is usually simple.

Before choosing a product, we need to understand your skin.

Because a popular product may not be the right product for you.

Why I Started Si Lumi

After years of clinical practice, I noticed something important.

Many people were trying to treat their skin through online advice, trending products and home remedies.

They were buying more products.

But their skin was not getting better.

In some cases, it was becoming more sensitive.

That is why I started Si Lumi.

I wanted to create a place where people could receive honest medical guidance, personalised treatment and practical skincare advice.

Not every concern needs an expensive procedure.

Not every patient needs ten products.

Sometimes, the skin simply needs the correct diagnosis and a consistent routine.

At Si Lumi, my objective is not to make skincare complicated.

It is to make it right for you.

Questions My Patients Frequently Ask Me

“Doctor, why is my face suddenly breaking out?”

Acne can appear because of hormonal changes, stress, unsuitable products, diet, medication or an improper skincare routine.

The first step is to understand the cause.

Do not keep changing your products every few days.

That often makes the condition worse.

“I wash my face many times. Why is my skin still oily?”

Overwashing can remove the skin’s natural protective oils.

Your skin may then produce even more oil.

For most people, cleansing twice a day is enough.

Use a gentle cleanser suited to your skin.

“Do I need moisturiser if I have oily skin?”

Yes.

Oily skin can also become dehydrated.

The right lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturiser can help maintain the skin barrier without making the face feel heavy.

“My acne is gone. Why are the marks still there?”

Acne and acne marks are different concerns.

The active acne must be controlled first.

After that, we can address the marks through appropriate skincare, medication or clinical procedures.

Picking or squeezing acne usually increases the chance of marks.

“Can I use a serum I saw on Instagram?”

Maybe. But not without understanding whether your skin needs it.

A serum may work beautifully for one person and cause irritation in another.

Trending does not always mean suitable.

“Why does my skin burn after applying products?”

Burning, itching and redness may indicate irritation or a damaged skin barrier.

Stop experimenting with multiple active ingredients.

Keep the routine simple and consult a qualified professional if the problem continues.

“Is sunscreen really necessary when I stay indoors?”

Yes.

Sunlight can reach your skin through windows.

Heat and visible light may also aggravate certain pigmentation concerns.

Sunscreen should be a daily habit.

Not only a summer product.

“I apply sunscreen once in the morning. Is that enough?”

Not always.

If you are outdoors, sweating or exposed to direct sunlight, you may need to reapply it.

The correct amount and application method are equally important.

“Why is my pigmentation not improving?”

Pigmentation can have several causes.

Sun exposure, hormones, inflammation, acne, friction and certain medical conditions may all play a role.

Using random fairness creams is not the solution.

We must identify the type and cause of pigmentation first.

“Can a facial permanently solve my skin problem?”

A facial may make the skin feel fresh temporarily.

But it may not treat acne, pigmentation, scars or other medical concerns.

Clinical skin problems require proper assessment and targeted treatment.

“Do expensive skincare products work better?”

Not necessarily.

Price does not decide whether a product will work for your skin.

The formulation, ingredients and suitability matter more.

A simple routine with the right products often performs better than an expensive but unsuitable routine.

The Basic Routine I Usually Recommend

For many patients, skincare can begin with three essential steps.

Morning

  1. Gentle cleansing
Remove excess oil and impurities without making the skin dry.
  2. Moisturising
Choose a moisturiser according to your skin type and current condition.
  3. Sun protection
Use a suitable broad-spectrum sunscreen every day.

Night

  1. Clean your face properly.
  2. Apply the treatment recommended for your concern.
  3. Use a suitable moisturiser.

Your routine may require additional products.

But these should be selected only after understanding your skin.

“Doctor, How Long Will It Take to See Results?”

This is one of the most common questions I receive.

My honest answer is:

Skin needs time.

Some concerns may begin improving within a few weeks.

Others may take several months.

The result depends on the condition, its severity, your lifestyle and how consistently you follow the treatment.

Skincare is not a one-night transformation.

Consistency usually matters more than the number of products you own.

What I Tell Every Patient

Please do not compare your skin with someone else’s skin.

Do not start five new products together.

Do not treat every skin concern with home remedies.

And do not ignore persistent acne, pigmentation, itching, redness or sudden changes.

Your skin often tells us when something is wrong.

Listen to it.

At our Skin Clinic in Dum Dum, we focus on identifying the real concern before recommending products or procedures.

Every treatment plan is developed according to the patient’s skin type, medical history, lifestyle and expectations.

Let Us Understand Your Skin First

You do not need a shelf full of products.

You need clarity.

You need consistency.

And you need a routine that is created for your skin—not for a social media trend.

After more than 10 years of treating patients, this remains my strongest belief:

Good skincare should be personal, practical and medically guided.
